ALOR SETAR: Family and friends of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub have been gathering outside Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here to pray for his recovery.

His friends and supporters gathered in the foyer of the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) waiting for latest updates on the health of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister on Sunday (July 23) as it was speculated that the Pulai MP's condition had deteriorated.

An Amanah member said they had no idea how the party deputy president was faring.

"We have been waiting for an update from doctors," he said.

In a brief statement, Salahuddin's press secretary Syakirin Husnal requested the public not to believe any speculation of his condition.

"Stop spreading and trusting the rumors. Salahuddin literally still breathing. His heart is still functioning. He is currently in ICU.

"If there's any new update, you'll be the first to get it from me." she said.

Salahuddin was rushed to the hospital at 10.15pm on Friday after experiencing nausea and vomiting.

Kedah Amanah chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar said Salahuddin underwent a successful four-hour surgery after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Saturday (July 22).
